Unhappy First Build, NO BEEP or POST ! Help Please

    hello,
I have just build a new computer last night. The first time I tried to boot there was no beep and the monitor said no signal detected. So, at first I tried other pci-e slots, that didn't work so i tried my older 6600 gfx card that did not work either. I had the triple channel ram sticks in the black ram slots. I left only one stick of ram in the first slot. Tried to boot like that but I still had the same problem. I moved the ram to the next slot, the orange one. This time it did work and so i just slotted them in the orange ones. It all worked fine, I got a single beep and even played crysis. But this morning i have the same problem! I did all the same steps again but i cant get the pc to boot.
    Please help,
    Thank you for reading.

    The parts i bought are:
    Asus p6t deluxe motherboard,
    core i7 920 2.66ghz,
    g-skill NQ PC3-12800C9 1600MHz triple channel ddr3,
xpertvision 9600gt 1gb gfx card - this was 2nd hand, but it worked fine on my previous pc,
    be quiet 1000w
    samsung spinpoint f1 1tb hdd,

Please reply as soon as possible.

does the psu or other fans spin up. could be a good few things. maybe the motherboard is shorting inside the case have you tried taking it all out, building it outside the case ?

I always prebuild out side a case before putting it all inside

Re: First Build, NO BEEP or POST ! Help Please

There are 7 fans in total they all spin including the psu fan. I haven't built it out of the case but the computer did work last night when everything was inside the case. But ill give it a go soon.

Could it be anything to do with the cpu ? Do u think reseating that could make a difference ? It is a lot of hassle to take it off beacuse i got this huge noctua heatsink.

Reset the CMOS and try the 1stick that worked again, try and up the DIMM voltage a little in BIOS then install the other ram sticks.

The thing is none of them work now. And i would go in to the BIOS if the monitor displayed anything other than "no signal detected".

I'm going to remove the battery and see if that works. How long does the battery have to stay disconnected ?

Move the jumper from pins 1 and 2, to pins 2 and 3, for about a minute, then move it back.

Look at your motherboard manual to locate the CMOS jumper.

Yes you need to reset the cmos, just look on your mobo for the cmos jumper, or remove battery for a few mins.

    thx.
with a lot of motherboards the PSU has to be switched off for the reset CMOS jumper to work.
i have to switch my PSU off with the little switch on the back then wait for the little red LED on the board to go off before resetting the CMOS has any effect.
but removing the battery with the PSU on works.
