I have been having many problems with my system of late. I had a Asus P5B mobo which had a dead slot 0 which I thought was causing my problems. I've sent this back on RMA and purchased a new P5KC mobo and I am having the same problems.
The system will allow me to install windows xp pro but as soon as I d/l the latest updates from microsoft the system will hang and I get a corrupt files error. When I reboot the system it will either hang on a black screen or constantly cycle through the boot menu and no matter which mode I select to boot with will keep coming back to the same menu. I have also had similar results when I try to use Vista. both are installs from scratch.
My system is running this P5KC with 4X 1GB Crucial Ballistix RAM, 2 SATA HDDs, 1 DVD/CD burner, Radeon HD4850 and a 500w PSU and the processor is an Intel E6600. System ws never overclocked either. I checked the drives with the software downloaded from Seagate and the drives both check fine using the long test. I've checked the RAM with memcheck and each stick checks out fine. I'm really stuck here and need some advice.
