    New Enermax PSU

I've just installed my new Enermax Modu82+ 525w PSU. According to software measuring tools, I'm getting 12.35v on the 12v rail when idle and 12.15 under heavy load. I've also measured PF from the wall and it is around 0.92 idle and 0.96 load. Are these figures about right for this PSU? I though it had a PF of 0.99 most of the time? And the 12v rail varies more than I expected, too. I'm using my PC on a surge protector along with my cable modem, router, speakers and monitor if that makes any difference. In the UK so mains voltage ~230v

you can only be sure by using a multimeter.

Yeah, I'll have to buy one. Still a little concerned about the low PF, though.

    Re: New Enermax PSU

Just checked 12v in the BIOS and it's reported at 12.175. I'll try to get a multimeter tomorrow. About how much should I spend/what features should I look for? 2 DP accuracy?

    Re: New Enermax PSU

if you want an accurate MM then you have to pay to have it calibrated, so in reality your looking at a couple of hundred pounds to get a true reading.

that or finally accept its "just about right" and stop picking at the millivolts !

well yeh but i doubt it will be any more accurate then the built in sensors, ie your going to see slight changes between a mm, the bios and the in windows displays.

under load the psu is giving more ampage and will drop a little on the voltage

your looking into a problem you dont have m8, its fine, its within specs. if it start changing by 2 volts you have a problem. save the £20-30 imho

    Re: New Enermax PSU

OK thanks. Does that PF look normal? I'm using one of those power monitors and it's reporting it between 0.90 and 0.98. PSU is also drawing 0.01amps when the inlet switch is turned off??
