how can i stop my pc blue screening?

hey, i built my 1st pc about 5 months ago and it was great. Resently i began having problems when playing game online (maily teamfortress 2 and guild wars). i though nothing of it at 1st but it has lately been happening more oftern, i've checked my graphics card (radeon 4870) and cpu (Q6600) temps and they seem to be fine. I though it could be my drivers but they are all upto date and now im stuck with what to do... im going to reapply the thermal paste on my cpu to see if that changes anything.

any thoughs or help would be great.

    thanks, Thomas

    yh...the codes i get are....

Re: how can i stop my pc blue screening?

List your full system specs please . It could be memory voltage or something like that, most mobo's default to 1.8v which should be ok for getting into the bios but can cause instability under a bit of load if using high performance memory which need slightly more voltage.

Could be a number of things though....

Agreed - could be number of things, but my first suspicion would be the RAM as well.

It could be a power supply problem; what PSU do you have?

Re: how can i stop my pc blue screening?

A lot of blue screens tend to be memory dumps or caused by memory issues. Hence my post to check memory voltage / memory settings in general.

The actual code would be useful though.

The errors and relevant codes should be listed in Event Viewer.

yep, lets see those codes and we will move on from there

Re: how can i stop my pc blue screening?

Have you tried re-seating the RAM?
If the ram has gold contacts and the motherboard has silver contacts then these can oxidise over time and cause errors, metals like this have been known to become unstable as their properties are different.

Is your rig overclocked? If so set it back to normal speeds immediately. If that solves problem then you had an unstable overclock.

Apart from that, we still need to know what the stop error was (as requested above) i.e. STOP 0x000000?? where ?? is the relevant characters.
