Exclamation Asus P5Q Delux very weird ....

Machine been fine for about 4 months. Couple of days ago did a format and reinstalled Vista 32. Everything fine.

Shutting the machine down last night I accidently pressed the power button and the pc went into suspend. It would not come back so I powered it off.

Turned on today to be greeted with the load setup or defaults. Entered the BIOS and it appeared the defaults had been loaded. Boot order had changed and the date was somewhere around 2001 ! Very strange. I loaded the defaults and windows started fine.

Couple of hours later came to shut the machine down and to my surprise after everything had totally turned off the pc restarted and loaded windows.

    SO .....

If I shut the machine down from Windows it shuts down totally then restarts.

If I boot into Express Gate and shut down from their it does the same.

If I hold the power button down it shuts down and stays down.

If I turn the power off at the PSU then back on it stays down.

I've reset the CMOS and I've flashed the BIOS with the latest.

    Still the same !

I've been hunting around and it appears a fair few people have had the identical problem but no one seems to have a solution.

Help MOST welcome ! Apart from that it's as stable as a rock.

Re: Asus P5Q Delux very weird ....

I have a P5B which has had a similar problem for a while now, if I turn off the PC it restarts okay but if I reset it or if it crashes I have to turn the power off at the supply for 30 seconds or so before it'll come back to life.

I suspect it's a problem with a lot of Asus BIOSes cos I've heard other people say similar things as well.

Might be worth changing the battery?

Not had a problem on my P5Q-E.
