    Internet browser problems

I'm really sorry if this is the wrong forum, I wasn't sure exactly where to post.

One of my family computers is having trouble browsing the internet, it is connected to the internet o.k, since msn messenger works fine, but internet explorer (the only browser on the computer) won't work.

I'm running out of the few ideas I have, it doesn't appear to be anything to do with anti virus software, and spybot has been run on it...

I would be very grateful for any suggestions.

    Re: Internet browser problems

Well I am not actually near the computer, I am trying to help my technologically ignorant father (I'm not much better!) apparently it just said internet explorer has stopped working, but I think he has had several different error messages.

    Re: Internet browser problems

Yep! I have found other stuff on the internet, about people with similar problems, but most of them seem to relate to Norton, which my father doesn't have, Guess he will just have to fork out the money to get it fixed professionally.

    Re: Internet browser problems

If he is on vista he will have IE7, go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/int...3-f581977282a8 and download Internet Explorer 8 and that should sort the IE issue's. If not a Windows repair could fix the issue

I tried to send him a mozilla installer over messenger but it didn't work, I'm not closer enough to pop around. Thanks for your suggestions.

MSN won't allow .exe files to be sent which most installers are. Try putting it in a zip file and it will generally allow you get around the exe issue on msn

i'll throw in the obligatory "use firefox instead of IE" post. It really is much better.
