welcome
It helps others to help you if they know exactly what you are dealing with.
Please supply a full system specification incl. make & models.
also, this would probably be better in the abit.care section.
Hi & welcome mick good luck with your abit mobo problem.
thank you sammy thanks buff will post full spec
FF would normally be a good sign but iirc there were a no. of AX78s that would show FF but that either needed RMA or a new BIOS chip.
all the led are lit fans working hard drive working ,just dont have display just blank screen
Could it be the display just isn't working? Does it go straight to FF and thats it? Or does it go through a sequence of hex values first.
display is working fine it just comes on with the FF im wondering if its my graphics card ?
check all the cables are not shorting, best thing to do is take everything out and re connect it. i get that probles sometimes and all i do is take out the plug and re try few times then it works
must done that about 10 times now thanks anyway
thats my next port call psu im using is only 350watt with 20 pin and 4pin cpu should be 24pinn and 8 pin but didnt know if that would affect system
thats it.... the problem
i remember when i had my radeon HD4870
and the original PSU wasnt powerfull enough to run it i had that exact very problem, have a look at my curent PSU and get it off scan
The 4 way definately isn't necessary, i have run several motheboards using just a 4 way atx power connection. I was under the impression that the extra 4 on a 24 way mobo power connector are more for high end cpus so again aren't actually necessary either, not 100% on this though.
If the 350w psu is a reasonable quality one the it should power it ok
ax78 board
am2 64 3200+
1 gig trancend 667
ati sapphire hd 3650 dvi out
ctx psu 350 watt
250gb sata drive segate
dvd rewriter
Spec taken from your post in the Abit section.
It might be worth changing the psu anyway as i am guessing it is quite old so it might have the most stable rails anymore due to aging caps. I have had to change a psu myself because a cap was iffy i did replace said cap and the psu started working, but i never trusted it enough to use it again.
