    T-mobile web'n'walk and msn issues.

Is anyone else using t-mobile web 'n' walk (normal package) and msn?? For some reason messages i send seem to get dropped and never reach the other person. Now i think this happens with every person (more some than others). Anyone know why??? or what (if) i can do anythign to improve the situation????

One thing I have noticed is in the msn option under connection it says 'You are connected to the internet through a non-UPnP symmetric Nat. (User)' Now what the hell does that mean and is it connected to messages dropping out??? And i shoudl mention i also loose some messages from contacts too.

Re: T-mobile web'n'walk and msn issues.

The T&C in the Web'n'Talk says no Messenger allowed. And T-Mobile drops your connection to the MSN server.

So far the only way I know to get around it is to use a VPN (if you have one).

Without the VPN, two of my MSN accounts work and one other will get dropped immediately upon signed in. The contact list shows for a second then dropped. Not sure why there is a difference, but I believe in general most if not all MSN traffic get dropped.

MSN will disconnect but i can then sign in again. It just seems odd that with some contact messages are ok and with others most messages get lost. I have been reading around and found that t-mobiel do not block msn (apparently) I did call t-mobile a while ago and was told they did not support windows live messenger, but then this was from a customer service person not the technical lot.

    Web'n'walk restrictions

Remember that you can only use web'n'walk in the UK.
    You can't:

    * Use your phone as a modem
    * Use web'n'walk for peer to peer file sharing
    * Use web'n'walk for instant messaging (except if you have a Sidekick)
    * Make internet phone calls
    http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobil...pay-as-you-go/

They probably can't detect the first one easily, but 2,3,4 they can easily just block it.
If your messages weren't delivered then certainly you got logged out.

I'll call them in the next few days. Its odd there is a lot of posts about this issue with people saying they can use msn with no issues. And i'm sure I read somewhere that if you had the plus of max version of web n walk msn was available along with internet phone calls.

If you're on contract, they offer you a seperate package for "chatting" that includes access to MSN messenger.

Would that mean that i would not see the 'You are connected to the internet through a non-UPnP symmetric Nat. (User)' message, and contacts would get every message i send??

In all honesty I don't know =/. I used the 30 day trial and worked with no problems:

Oh sorry, well either way I still think it might be valid. I did a quick google search and msn seems to be blocked on certain (mobile internet) plans.

Re: T-mobile web'n'walk and msn issues.

I am fed up with t-mobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Worst customer service I have ever had!!! Sent them an email about the problem and get a call at 8am in the morning!!! So tell them to call back next day (which is today) at midday. They call at 9am!!!

Now apparently i spoke to someone from the tech team this morning. However, i missed a lot of what she was saying due to her Indian accent (at least i assume thats where she was calling from)

Just called them back and been told the only advice they can give me is to download the latest version of msn. Now the latest version is windows live messenger which i already have installed!!

I can't see how the problem is with microsoft here. First time i called about the problems with msn i was told t-mobile did not support windows live messenger. So i'm lost now, and peed off with the service i have recieved. I mean the easiest way to offload a problem is to dump into on someone else!!

Re: T-mobile web'n'walk and msn issues.

I joined up just to say "ME TOO!". I have seen smaller yet similar tech issues covered on the TV programme Watchdog, maybe that would be worth a try! It might seem a minor issue to some, but in fact Messenger has become a primary communication tool for many. It's practically indispensable to my business.

Could someone point out where in the terms and conditions T-mobile specifically say msn messenger is not allowed? i.e. which specific clause.

I have also called up the T-Mobile support line, and was told to install the latest version of messenger! Urm.... OK, that doesn't work! Why are they giving everyone this advice if it's obviously BS? This reminds me of a politician who can't give a straight answer. Any hopes of clarity seem dashed by their inconsistent responses to the problem. The contract says one thing (I am led to believe), yet their customer support teams say another. WHAT IS GOING ON?!

Can someone at T-Mobile not just come straight out and simply tell us one way or the other if they support messsenger? (and relay that information to their support teams). I get the feeling that their systems are buggered and they can't be bothered to fix it.

    What a crap company.

What kind of phone are you using? Messenger/GChat both work fine on my Vario and Blackberry phones.

I've had nothing but good experiences with T-Mobile customer services too... except for when they repeatedly play Duffy as hold music. Saying that though... if you get put through to second line support, you get to listen to Vanilla Ice.
