Sound issue! re: headphones

Hello everyone. I'm experiencing an annoying white noise whenever I use my headphones.

I have Sennheiser PC350 headet with the Maximus II Formula soundcard: SupremeFX X-Fi

I hear when I move my mouse, the noise responds to it....

I've tried muting microphones; adjusting volumes; reinstalling drivers; restarting pc several times after doing all of the aforementioned... nothing seems to work.

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it!

hmm, only thing I can think of is have you you got the mixer box checked in the x-fi control panel. I have come across mouse movements causing static but that was years ago and I can't remember how or if I fixed it.

I've had this problem with every onboard audio chip I've used in the past 10 years except for my most recent motherboard with an ALC888 (but at the same time I've heard bad boards with the ALC888). Provided that you've muted all analogue inputs I don't think that there's much you can do if it's noisy other than to use a dedicated sound card.

You could try it in a different PCI-E slot and hope its an IRQ issue but the card is a nightmare and I would suggest buying something else, even a £15 PCI card would probably be better.

Are you plugging directly into the card or on a front port on the pc?

I have the same thing on my onboard Gigabyte MA790X-UD4. Even when watching a movie and pausing, there is a repeated noise coming. Tried connecting the AC97, then changing to HDA connector, still there's noise.

Don't really know what to do, in silent movies it's really annoying.

Onboard audio (which the SupremeFX still is) always generates noise like this. Best bet is to use a PCI sound card and put it in the slot furthest from the noise generating components. You probably only notice it so much with Sennheiser headphones because they're so accurate
