4 GB Memory Problem
Well I've been everywhere and no one seems to know for sure what is the proper solution for my problem. So I'll try here! I have a Biostar G965 Micro 775 (Chip: IG965-M7) and use one stick of G. Skill 2GB DDR2 800 Mhz. memory. Timings are 5-5-5-15. Voltage is at 1.95 Volts (memory says 1.8-1.9). It works great! Of course, I put the second stick of G. Skill memory in (yes, they are the EXACT same) and I cannot boot into Windows (64-bit Vista before, now same problem since upgrading to 64-bit Windows 7 RC). The bluescreen message says that the BIOS may not be fully ACPI compliant. What does that mean? I cannot upgrade the BIOS anymore, the last update was in October 2007. Why does this memory not work?
edit: Processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, which I usually overclock from 2.4 to 2.97 Ghz, but I drop down to normal for testing the 4 GBs. Graphics card is Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+.

Re: 4 GB Memory Problem
I assume both memory sticks work fine on their own?
Did you install this hotfix on vista?

Not sure if windows 7 has the same issues.
If you did install the above on vista then not sure what else to suggest.

Re: 4 GB Memory Problem
Yeah, I did. It's not software issues. I pretty much have given up.

Re: 4 GB Memory Problem
All BIOS' have been ACPI compliant for yonks, so i'm guessing that there is a conflicting issue...
Looking around the interwibble comes up with a few hit and miss weird solutions for other people...
Does the board have a parallel port?
If so, try disabling it in the BIOS
Try turning off legacy USB support
Also, try changing the boot order ensuring that a floppy isn't first in the chain
Try disabling advanced power management (APM)

Re: 4 GB Memory Problem
Err this might be a stupid question but did you put the 2nd stick of RAM in the same colour slot as the first?
As in Green/Green or White/White.

Re: 4 GB Memory Problem
Try increasing the voltage on the northbridge.

Re: 4 GB Memory Problem
As kakahara was saying what slots do you have your memory in. Say you have 4 slots on your motherboard. Imagine they go 12 34 (gap to show the grouped 'channel' slots) what 2 slots are you using? Standard practice is you should have one in slot1 (the first slot of the first channel) and one in slot3 (slot one of the second channel). This of course being to ensure the right amount of power can be effectively drawn to your ram (in case of some limited chipsets) and also allows you to run in dual channel mode.

Re: 4 GB Memory Problem
probably because its a crappy biostar board.

Re: 4 GB Memory Problem
Try moving them to slot 2 and 4. You may have a bad port.

It would seem as though the OP has naffed off and left us!
