Exclamation Corsair TwinX 4GB DDR2 8500C5 giving me BSOD, HELP!

I have recently installed Corsair TwinX 4GB DDR2 8500 C5 and have been running it at a Dram frequency of 800
as needed to run a BIOS update because when i set frequency to 1066 windows would not boot. Would show "windows failed to boot missing system file, press R to run repair".

After BIOS update i can now boot into windows and have it set to 1066 but now my PC keeps getting BSOD when in game or just in windows.

I have set in the BIOS
    Asus P5Q Deluxe
    Dram Frequency 1066
    Ram Voltage. 2v
    Timing 5-5-5-15

Any ideas what im doing wrong??

    Cheers

This is a common problem when using four sticks of RAM, you will need to increase the MCH voltage by a few steps. Try one step and if you still get blue screens the try another step. If you still get blue screens it could be faulty RAM. Then you should test two sticks (to rule out the motherboard) at a time with Memtest.

Can you run memtest on them?

if you can run that and if it reports any errors, I would recommend getting them swapped out.

It is odd, as before when i had the settings in BIOS for DRAM Frequency set to 1066 and all other settings to Auto it would boot into windows but then BSOD about 5-10min later, but now it eather comes up with missing system files on boot and press R to repair or goes to BSOD displaying error

    Bad_System_Config_Info
    Stop:00000074
    ----------------------
So i made my own chages as followed
FSB Strapto North Bridge = 266MHz
    DRam Frequency =DDR2 1066
    DRam timing control = Manuall
    CAS# Latency =5 DRam Clock
DRam RAS# to CAS# Delay =5 DRam Clock
Dram RAS# Precharge =5 DRam Clock
DRam RAS# Active to Precha =15 DRam Clock
    DRam Volage = 2.02

I did all the changes one at a time and it did not work untill i changed
"FSB Strapto North Bridge to 266MHz" now it boot into windows.

Going to test this with memtest and 3D mark 06 to see how stable it is?

Well that did not work? After reboot i got a BSOD again Bad_system_Config_Info
but after 2 reboots it has gone back into windows.

    Also fails on memtest.

As soon as i put all BIOS back to auto Ram goes down to 400Mhz DDR 800 CAS 5-5-5-18 and all is fine on memtest and bootup.

(Im Using my Laptop to keep you posted as i test my PC)
I dont know what to do?

Re: Corsair TwinX 4GB DDR2 8500C5 giving me BSOD, HELP!

Looking at the specs on the memory it would appear they're designed to run at 2.1V (http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/T...096-8500C5.pdf) so that would be the first thing I'd change.

Top up the DRAM Volt to atleast 2.1v. I've got the same sticks myself in the same mobo.

Great some one who has the same on both RAM and MOBO.
Did you just increase the voltage or did you change all the setting like mine?
Also i found that you can not change voltage to 2.01 only allows you to increase by 0.2?

    Cheers

You dont set 2.01 you need to set 2.1 - the memory is specced to run at that. Additionally, as per an earlier response you may need to up the MCH voltage by 0.1 or 0.2

When i type it in 2.1 and enter it then shows as 2.10 Correct?
Also what is the MCH Voltage?

Reset everything to default values, and then only change the DRAM voltage to 2.1. Then stress test the system for a couple of days and do a memtest run.

Re: Corsair TwinX 4GB DDR2 8500C5 giving me BSOD, HELP!

    PROBLEM FOUND!

I got incontact with corsair and was advised to test one stick at a time with memtest. I did this and the fist stick passed fine.

Then tested the second and thats when i started getting errors. Ran test again to make sure and its faulty. Enjoy... at last i know it was not me and the settings.

    Cheers for all the posts
