    Advisory Question :)

Ive just spend money upgrading my computer to a some what 'Ok' standerd with help of the members on here.

when when i see people saying im on a budget recommend me a build they can be quite cheep for what you get

now i was just wondering, looking at my system ( i think its all correct ) could i sell it on here (i dont trust ebay) could i get enough money to buy a better system becuase i dont really know much its worth.

    cheers

u wont sell it and make enough to get better.

most whole systems get split on here in the end.

    Re: Advisory Question :)

The problem is that as soon as you receive a component you lost about 10% of the value compared to a retailer, then you open the packet and lose another 20% of the value.

I considered doing the same a few months ago in order to swap to prebuilt, and found out that if I sold off my machine, I wouldn't be able to afford anything even nearly comparable as a replacement.

Bugger i could stick it on ebay for a reserve of 350 and see if some nOOb buys it

for 350 i could build something better than ive got. maybe even 300.

    Re: Advisory Question :)

Yeah, but you'd probably do better by taking out the decent parts - you've got a 4850 right? And the hard drive, OS, PSU all look fine.

If you want to swap over, why not just take out the motherboard, CPU and RAM, and ask for some advice in the hardware forum about what to replace them with? Then sell off the old motherboard, CPU and RAM. There's no point in selling the other parts on eBay as part of a complete build and then replacing them very similar components - you'll only lose money that way.

With those three upgraded you'd have a pretty strong PC.

    Re: Advisory Question :)

I'm not entirely sure why you'd want to upgrade that PC at all. With a 4850 in there and the OC on the CPU you've got a perfectly capable mid-range gaming maching.

Putting a faster quad core in might bring you a bit more performance in some circumstances and you might benefit from a bit more memory but probably not a lot.

Unless you were going for a whole new i7 system I don't think there's much advantage in scrapping any of what you have.

Take a look at my system specs, that plays pretty much every game I've thrown at it perfectly.

    Re: Advisory Question :)

i knew this is why i asked the question on here, becuase id get a better answer than what i was thinking i should do

i suppose really the other thing holding me back is the CPU, and i can get that sorted for 40/50 pounds.

and the OC isnt anything speical on the CPU its only from 2.0 to 2.5Ghz, i put it at 2.6 and it says its a failed overclock.
