If it's a boot sector virus, you could try rebooting, in the BIOS, change the boot order of your Hard Drives, then use any live Linux Distro to format the drive that was infected.
Also, an alternate route is to download a win98 bootable floppy & the drive utility from that manufacturer of the infected HDD. Change the boot order as above & boot from the floppy. Then use the disc utility to do a low level format of the offending drive.
Fixboot or Fixmbr might work, but there's nothing like a low level format to get rid of everything. (imo, other suggestions may vary :))
firstly try drweb cure it and superantispyware
Also download hosts expert
use the restore ms hosts file option.
sometimes malware modifies the hosts file to do the redirecting. this will rest the hosts file.
Once thats done its still best to backup your data and do a format.
And scan any backed-up files too :)
It sounds like your Windows boot sector info is busted - possibly thanks to one of your viruses.
The advice given above is sound - don't use Wubi, just burn an Ubuntu CD and boot from it to run the installer from there (with no infection)
Looks like a browser hijacker, seems to be injecting into the browser.
Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.38 http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebyt...are_d5756.html) - Close all programs and perform a 'Quick Scan' - Remove all it finds.
Post back the Malwarebytes AM log and then post a Hijackthis log and i'll have a look.
Thanks for all your help but i just ended up reformatting.. seemed to clear the virus and i scanned afterwards... resulting in 0 infections.
I now duelboot ubuntu and vista (ununtu for web and vista for games).
Thanks, Luke
