Windows 7 RC Installation BSOD
Okay, so I thought I would check out windows 7, made a new primary partition on my HD (which means I have 3 primary partitions, one used by vista x64, one by xp, and one set aside for windows 7 - plus an extended partition for storage), and tried to install from the boot dvd.
However, shortly after the 'Starting Windows' animation before installation starts i get a BSOD which reads:
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The initial session process, or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0xc0000221 x001003a8).
The system has shut down.
I have tried my default BIOS settings (which overclock the processor) and default BIOS settings, both lead to the same error.
Pre-existing installations of Vista and XP both load fine, and I only re-installed Vista the other day with no problems.
Any ideas anyone??
Re: Windows 7 RC Installation BSOD
Just to be clear, where does it fail? Is it during the install process or is it after you've finished installing 7?
Re: Windows 7 RC Installation BSOD
It's during installation - right at the start before anything has been installed.
It loads up the installation files from the DVD okay I think as the bar goes from grey to white along the bottom. Then aI get a 'Starting Windows' screen with a windows flag animation thing, then a BSOD with the error.
Re: Windows 7 RC Installation BSOD
Not had the error myself and ive installed 3 different version of 7 including 7100. Try burning it again but at a slower(or slowest) speed.
Re: Windows 7 RC Installation BSOD
Could be a dodgy burn, try doing it again at a lower speed
Re: Windows 7 RC Installation BSOD
gonna suggest that, dodogy iso, or dodgy burn?
redownload it and try again at a slower speed to cover all bases.
Do you BSO much with vista64 or xp?
my vista64 BSOD's weekly due to a bad install, but since ive been running the latest RC its been fine
Re: Windows 7 RC Installation BSOD
Dodgy burn was what I was thinking.
When I installed 7 on my second PC 'something' went wrong with the disk and I had to burn another copy onto different media before it would work.
Re: Windows 7 RC Installation BSOD
My Vista/7 RC only BSOD very rarely and usually due to a turd overclock. You could re-download the iso again however id still recommend burning it off at a slower speed, it only takes 10mins or so at x4 doesn't it ?
Re: Windows 7 RC Installation BSOD
Have re-burned the ISO and have installed Windows 7 perfectly now.
Thanks for your help guys!
