Hooking the Wii up to my PC monitor

I want to move my Wii into my room (to play the Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time) but in my room is only a PC, and there is no possibility of getting a TV in here. What I'd like to know is, will something like this:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...pf_rd_i=468294

    work?

Would that be able to carry the yellow video plug from the Wii and play it properly on the PC monitor via VGA?

Looks like it might work, but seems designed for displaying PC on TV, rather than the way you want to use it. Not sure if that makes a difference...
There was a discussion on AVForums about the same issue, this might help....

No. This is for VGA-out on a computer. And only works with a few Matrox graphics cards.

You don't say what connectors your monitor has. The more detail you can give, the better.

Re: Hooking the Wii up to my PC monitor

FWIW, if you don't have a composite or component input on your screen, this is *hard* to achieve without spending a lot of money. If it was for Wii games, it'd not be so bad, but Gamecube games in a Wii are basically the same as on a Gamecube - and unless you have a US or Japanese machine, you're stuck without spending plenty of cashes on an interlacing-capable VGA upscan converter.

Ah right. Should have mentioned I've only got VGA and DVI inputs to play with. Would something like a video capture card work? Purely for example's sake, i.e. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...pf_rd_i=468294

Yes. But laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag. Also the picture will be very blurry and/or grainy. Remember, the UK-spec gamecube was a max of 704x576.

Re: Hooking the Wii up to my PC monitor

Because this probably ranks pretty highly in Google, I shall conclude this thread by saying that I bought the downgrade of this card (the C100) and it works absolutely fine with no lag. I imagine the lag comes from the TV tuner so my theory, until proven otherwise, is that video capture cards excluding TV Tuners are fine.
