    Unhappy connecting laptop to tv

Hi, I have connected my laptop to my tv using a VGA cable and i set my laptop to the tv output, I can see the display on the tv and click on things, but when i try to watch a film i can only see the film on the laptop and not on the tv screen.

I cant watch movies on windows media player for some reason i watch them on a programe called VLC media player but this will not display on the tv screen.

    Please help!!!!!!!

are you mirroring your monitor image onto the TV or is the TV acting like a 2nd monitor with a blank desktop?

    Re: connecting laptop to tv

You might want to enable overlay as well, depends on the graphics card, some will just plain refuse to display on a secondary monitor, in which case set the TV as screen #1.

    Re: connecting laptop to tv

If you've not already managed this by now, the problem is sometimes that the TV isn't set as the primary display, though if you're cloning the display (so they're both the same) rather than extending your display onto the second that may not be the problem.

If you're still having problems, perhaps a few more details as to how you set it up might help
