    Angry My 8800GT died!

The heatsinks on the RAM chips had become loose. So, I used Sekisui double sided thermal tape to stick them.
I start up my PC - everything OK. Install NVIDIA drivers .. and then no more display!
Restarted my PC plenty of times but no display!

    Wot to do?

I am using the HD4830 now but I am quite pissed that my once-bought-with-£70 8800GT has died suddenly!

Snap that Alpha Dog XFX 8800GTS up in the other thread ?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

i think the op wants advise not suggestions on where to get another card.

anyway, before you used the thermal tape, did you get this problem, as i doubt no ram heatsinks will cause a sudden fault with the gpu, did you have it overclocked?

Yup, thats right. Just wondering why it suddenly died.

Nope, had no problems. Before I used the thermal tape, I was using a Pritt stick to fix the heatsinks to the chips and there were no problems - played Crysis on very high for a month!
And, now I finally do it the proper way and it dies on me. grrrr
