Mouse and keyboard occasionally do things twice

Hi,

I've been getting this strange problem recently where my mouse and keyboard randomly inputs commands twice. E.g. Letters typing twice on the keyboard and two tabs opening when I middle click something in my web browser, as if I have double-clicked.

Normally I would put this down to a hardware fault in either one of the devices, but being as it is both and it started at the same time with both of them I'm thinking it must be something else, but I'm not exactly sure what.

Has anyone experience this before, or have any suggestions for fixing it?

Not sure how to help really, but what keyboard mouse and OS are you using?

Also have you applied any updates or new drivers that coincide with the problem starting?

My mouse is an old, pretty plain optical Logitech mouse, and my keyboard is a Cherry board that I've had for a few months before this started happening. My OS is Vista Home Premium.

I've not changed or removed any drivers to my knowledge to make this start happening. What kind of drivers could I possibly reinstall to remedy this?

are they wireless? or wired?

They are both wired.
