The other things is, do the screws I need to screw in the parts come with the case/components, or must I purchase them from a hardware store? Are there any other tools I should get ready to build the computer?
Hi
I would get this card instead of the HD4650:

It will destroy it in most games. It may have less RAM but the card has a higher clocked core and much more memory bandwidth too.
You should get enough screws with the case usually.
Re: Help with Building a PC
Yeah you should get plenty of screws with the case. Also some HDDs come with a pack of screws, all of my Samsung drives did. One thing to remember is not all the screws are the same - the ones with the big head are for the motherboard - you don't have to use them all - and be sure to match up standoffs properly to holes in the motherboard. Also the screws with the smaller head come in two varieties - one with a finer thread than the other so if it seems tight or won't go in try one with a different thread. IIRC the wider threads are for HDDs and finer ones are for optical drives. :)

They are fine :)
Re: Help with Building a PC
At this rate you can get to 100 posts and put a bid in on the second hand HD 3870/512 DDR4 in the classifieds, I think it is still there and would be a better card.
Re: Help with Building a PC
Oh, one question about the HD 3850 with 256 RAM...will it run modern games well? For example Fallout 3 recommends:
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM

It will run all right, but if you want to play Fallout 3 smoothly then I would recommend you get a card with a bit more juice? How much are willing to spend on a gfx card?
Re: Help with Building a PC
I would look at getting this card:
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB...128-Cores-HDMI
Ebuyer had an HD4850 for around £72 earlier this week IIRC and this will be faster.
The 512mb version of the HD3850 is also available for under £50 from microdirect too:
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Pr...PCI-E--DVI--TV
If you spend any more you might as well get a GTS250 or HD4850.

What's the best graphics card under 40 pounds?

Spend £50 and you'll thank yourself.
Try one of the following at ebuyer:
HD 4730 £57
9600GT DDR3 £55
HD 4670 £47
or 8800gs / 8800gt from ebay £40-£50
I would't get anything else. Try to justify the HD 4730 if I were you!

The HD3850 is the best card in your price range. The second best card in your price range is the HD4650 followed by the 9500GT GDDR3. I would get the HD3850 256mb.
Re: Help with Building a PC
For £40 the HD 3850 is good. if you must.
Re: Help with Building a PC
The HD3850 should do the job until the DX11 cards become more widespread in the next 6 months or so.
Re: Help with Building a PC
I think you should replace the hard drive you listed with this one, better, cheaper, and ebuyer is very efficient at delivery:

Re: Help with Building a PC
I would stay with the Samsung. It will be faster and IMHO more reliable. I have had enough of IBM and Hitachi drives going kaput in the past. Perhaps they are much better now - who knows?? However I have been using WD and Samsung drives for years and they have done the job very nicely!! :)
Funnily enough I have a few older Seagate hard disks too....and they are still working! Phew!!
Re: Help with Building a PC
The HD3850 256mb is on the Scan Today Only webpage for under £40:
