Anyone know if HIPER are still in the UK?

    Hi,

I have a TypeR 580w which has failed three weeks INSIDE the 3yr warranty. Tried a PSU from another PC and it boots fine so the Mobo/CPU aren't fried. 'Excellent!!' I thought, won't have to stump up for a new PSU.

However, the UK number (found from their website on the contact page) is answered by a phone system which gives various options but no-one ever answers on any of the selections, not even the switchboard. I've tried emailing the UK and NL email addresses but no response yet. Also clicking on the Warranty link results in a 404 error.

Does anyone know if they are still in the UK or would I be better off trying to contact a different European office?

I think they are still going as the likes of Scan still sell Hiper PSU's. (Maybe someone from Scan might read this and let me know if there is a live contact/support number I can use??)

    Thanks,

    Phil

to be honest mate I would just buy a new PSU, hiper are not that good. You got away with one blowing once, I wouldn't try my luck a second time.

Maybe you could phone Scan and they might point you in the right direction. I would also buy a better PSU though and sell the one you get as a replacement on ebay or something. I read on this forum the other day that Hiper have gone bust; not sure how true that is though.

Re: Anyone know if HIPER are still in the UK?

When my Type R 580w died (many people on here had them, many had them die) I contacted them and they wanted me to send it abroad.

Not sure if it's changed now (was quite some time ago!) but if it's the same, the cost of sending it may not be a huge amount less then buying a newer, better PSU.

Re: Anyone know if HIPER are still in the UK?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the quick replies.

Jay, yes I've tried the number you quoted plus 01908 226655 which is listed against some Hiper PSU's on Scan which (I think) sounds like an engaged number. I'll try it again later (plus out of office hours) to see if it ever gives a normal ring tone.

Watercooled/Jay, yep, after reading various forums I will probably get something like an Enermax to use instead of anything Hiper send/repair, I just want to try and get SOMETHING back from the warranty to offset the cost, even if only a small amount.

Shaithis, good point, hadn't considered it might require sending overseas. That would certainly swing the decision.

    I'll update if anything happens.

    Thanks,

    Phil

Re: Anyone know if HIPER are still in the UK?

    Excuse what may be complete ignorance and/or confusion but;

If you're talking about HIPER who also make cases like the Osaris then well....

They went under couple of weeks back not much info about it yet i.e no statement on their site but one of the staff at ebuyer got told the news by a member ofstaff from Hiper

Search CPU3D for story as I can't post links yet!

Re: Anyone know if HIPER are still in the UK?

    Hi,

Mazzle, thanks for the info. According to the news article on CPU3d (http://www.cpu3d.com/news/8103-1/hip...ust/story.html) and the ebuyer forums it references, it seems they went bust on 04/08/09. Typical, a week before my PSU failed.

Guess it's time to buy a new PSU then.....

It almost makes you think it was part of their evil master plan.

    1) Sell Duff PSUs
    2) Go Bust
    3) ....
    4) Profit

..... No that can't be right.

Re: Anyone know if HIPER are still in the UK?

My Hiper failed about a month ago and I spoke to their tech guys a number of times on +44 (0)1908 22 55 88. The RMA form told me to post to:

    High Performance Enterprise PLC.
    Unit 1, The I/O Centre
    Fingle Drive,Stonebridge
    Milton Keynes, MK13 0AT
    United Kingdom
    Tel: +44 (0)1908 22 55 88
    ATTN: RMA Dept.

I did post it about 3 weeks ago but they are saying they haven't got it yet so I'm filling my Royal Mail claim form in now. But now I've read this thread I'm a bit more concerned, maybe they did receive it and are using it for hammer throw practice

I know you last posted on this thread a while back but did you ever get anything from them in the end? I have a 880watt Hiper and it is playing up on me now. Sometimes it take 5-10 seconds to turn the PC on.

Re: Anyone know if HIPER are still in the UK?

Hiper have always had a bad name where psu's are concerned.
It's no wonder they went bust.
