WinTV Nova-T 500 - Only 8 channels

Hello,

Today I received my WinTV Nova-TD 500, installed the latest, correct, drivers, and downloaded the latest WinTV 7 and Media Portal.

My current freeview box, the Humax F2-FOX T, picks up all the TV channels, great signal too. Also DVB-T

On the WinTV Nova-TD 500, in both WinTV 7 and Media Portal, I get only BBC Parliment, CBBies, BBC Four and some other channels that I can't remember, and some radio channels. What's going on here? I'm scanning "UK - All Regions" but that's all I get

Driver Version according to Device Manager is - 3.11.27070.0
WinTV v7.0.27198
Since Mediaportal takes ages to load, I won't bother with that version

Any help pleeesh?

I had one of those cards in my HTPC and had the same problem... I think it might have been something to do with either a) the signal being too strong (we're only a couple of miles from the antenna), which would have needed a masthead attenuator or b) the aerial/wiring in our house was just too dodgy.

Never found our which for sure because I bought a cheap Pinnacle dual digital tuner from ebay and it works (almost) perfectly.

I think the tuner in the Nova TD is just a bit too sensitive.

Tried re-installing the drivers and now I get no channels!

As I say, I spent weeks on it and never found a better (or cheaper) solution than changing TV card!

I had this problem when I moved into my new place.

I ended up getting a guy out to replace the aerial and install a second run into the spare bedroom (where my TVServer is). It's probably the most expensive solution, but it needed doing. Now I get a great signal to both my Nova-T 500s.

Okay, there is progression...

I messed around with the drivers and i've got the 8 channels or so I had back.

A guy on another forum pointed out that they are all the channels from Multiplex B

I've no idea what's going on now, any ideas? The channels I have, are great quality!

The other multi-plexes are not strong enough or the signal isn't clear enough comming from your aerial for the Nova-T 500. It does have issues with low signal areas.

Either trade it for another card, or try and do something about your signal issues. This isn't a driver or software issue I don't think.

There's something up with the cable coming into my room, it gets all channels, perfect quality in my bro's room. My bro's Panasonic tuner only gets MUXB in my room too, so i'll be up in the loft checking out the splitter / amp.

Agreed with Funkstar, I had much the same problem. I tried replacing the cable but I think it was a problem with the aerial setup as a whole. It cost a lot less to replace the card than to get a new aerial/masthead amp/cabling though so I left it alone in the end.

Unplug cable, plug back in at the amp fixed it.
