    Acer 5536-744G Laptop - Speed

    Hi,
I just bought this laptop a few days ago. It's spec seemed very good in comparison with others at the £500 price range. However, its been a tad disapointing in terms of performance, which I am attributing to the fact its running Vista HPrem. It's rather slow, and can easily run to 100% CPU with the running of an internet browser and itunes, which is even worse than my old laptop which was half as good.
I've uninstalled most of the bumpf and promotional crap which came preinstalled which made some difference but its still rather sluggish.

I was wondering whether anyone had any help / advice as to what might be causing this or what I could try in order to speed it up.

The laptop came with a "Free" (not including the £13 P+P Charge) upgrade to Windows 7, which I will be getting. Hopefully that will improve the performance. I had the RC installed on my previous laptop, and the different was phenomenal.

    Thanks,
    Luke

Re: Acer 5536-744G Laptop - Speed

hiya have excaclty same laptop had a proffesional look at ours he said there were lots (491) of errors showing in the event viewer on the hard disk (we had only used it 5-10 times and had no viruses) this was causing our laptop to start up very very slow became so bad the control panel wouldnt open.

any way i would suggest taking it straight back to where you brought it from as its a hardware problem because ive seen lots of this problem .
