    Windows Server 2000 won't boot

I have a couple of Dell 2600 servers that won't boot up. The guy that had them said the log files were full. What can I do?

    Cheers

Boot to safe mode and create new log files?

log in as the admin in safe mode and clear them but I have never come across that before. I have seen it when the logs are full and it will only let admins log in (2000 Pro) but never a full refusal to boot.

Remove hard drive, remove files, replace, reboot.

Unless they're RAIDed, in which case I dunno.

Re: Windows Server 2000 won't boot

Ah, the penny begins to drop now, he means the event viewer log files I assume. If I can get in via Safe Mode I should be able to clear them. Can you get the big hammer out and just delete the .evt files say from a command prompt and using the dos path?

Re: Windows Server 2000 won't boot

I can't see the event logs being full being the issue.

Usually once they get full they start to overwrite the older events....unless you tell it not to do that....I think from memory. Certainly the case with 2003.
