    New £600 Build

Hey im looking at getting a new build mainly for gaming and web browsing.

I will need a monitor but not an OS as i have the RC Windows 7 so if you can fit it in with the build not going to much over the budget.

    Thanks

I would probably wait until the end of next week to see how much the Core i5 and Core i3 will cost.

i5 is set to be coming out tomorrow. It will be best to look towards the end of next week where prices have stabled and reviews are starting to come out to help to get the most out of your money

    Re: New £600 Build

An i5 system should be doable for £600.

Intel P55 motherboard ~£63 special offer
    CPU ~£140
    HDD Samsung 640GB £37
BFG Overclocked GTX 260 £125 free Batman CCLonline.com
    RAM £60
    PSU £50 (40+ amps on 12v rails)
    CASE £20
    KEYBD MOUSE £10
    DVD £15

£80 20 inch monitor. I wouldn't look at 1920x1080 screens at your price level.

Of course, the i5 price is an estimate. Might be worth getting the 1/2 price 1 day offer on the motherboard tomorrow though?

You will have to shop cleverly for those prices, e.g. 1 day deals at Scan/CCL/Aria/eBuyer/Dabs.

    Re: New £600 Build

    Hi Jabra.

Try Scan's deal of the day on 650W NorthQ Black Magic Flex Compact Modular PSU 80%+ Eff' 135mm Ultra Silent Fan OEM - £48

    Ebuyer Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz Socket LGA1156 8MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor - £149

I suggest trying the stock cooler, as it should handle 3.2ghz easily.

Also, you should wait 1 week before getting the GFX card, as the HD 5850 is out this week. Order it last.

Remember free delivery at Scan for hexus members.

Rumoured at £150 - £200, but it will bring down the prices of the GTX 260 and HD 4890.

I think that PSU is a good deal. It should have enough power to run any of the above cards and a quadcore cpu: 40Amps on 12V. Forget SLI/Crossfire.

    RAM! Check out this:

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/p...664TA1336.html

    Cheap as chips

I'd say the build was pretty solid, although I'd spend a little more on the case, and I don't like Samsung drives and I love my 19" 16:10 monitor, 1440x900

    Re: New £600 Build

hey sorry to ask another question again but my friend is also planning on building a gaming pc but he missed out on the motherboard offer yesterday, so i came here to ask if there is another motherboard which will fit into the same budget of mine or should he go for a completly different processor.

    Thanks

Depends on how much he's spending, you won't get a P55 board as good as that for that price for a while.

The same build as yours would now cost £60 more. You can get cheaper i5 (P55) boards for about £90.

Otherwise try a £60 AMD board, with Phenom II x3 or x4 Black Editions.

Or Intel quad q9400 or even Q6600
