I just tried it with my D630 service tag and no issues here, sometimes the server errors are actually a browser issue, as I cannot use the premier site with IE8
If you want, PM me your tag and I will try it for you and send you the warranty info

Tying this on a number of machines at work, i work on the helpdesk and we now have to capture this detail and if it's missing now have to add it.
Where the tag is worn or the user can not find it we try to use the automatic lookup tool it returns a server error, and all "contact pages" leed to no where other then call us but this is for product support not the actual website
I take it the users trying to run this has local admin rights and the ability to run/install the activex component from the site?
The other was is by using the Dell Management Workstation software and have a central database which can be used to search your network (as long as the dell client is installed) and retrieve all of your Dell assets, another alternative is in the computers bios, that also shows the service tag.
The user with local admin.... no never, we are doing this via our remote admin log in.
We use to run the dell software but have gone away from them so it's no longer in use and so the agent is not installed.
Has for the bios, password protected to stop them fiddling, you think we would trust them over the phone.
