    Monitor Resolution Terrible

Hello all I just installed windows XP on my computer. I am using a Samsung 2343NW monitor which supports up to 2048 x 1152 resolution, along with an ATi Radeon 3850 graphics card that does (and has on other operating systems) support that resolution. However when I right click on my desktop and go to settings, the highest I can set my resoution to is 1920 x 1440, even on the advanced menu. Do I have to download some drivers? If so should I download Samsung or ATi drivers or both, or is there something else I must do?
    Thank you
    Varmint

I know the 3850 supports my resolution. Will the catalyst driver allow me to change resolution as well?

Windows 7 is far far more advanced than XP...

XP is the archaic old coon that just won't go away, so yes, you have to download the drivers...

Actually I changed FROM windows 7 to XP due to instability...
Anyway the problem fixed itself when I restarted (either through the drivers or windows figured it out). Thanks for all your suggestions.

Win7 still isn't officially available to the general public..
So it is likely that the version you have is a beta OS, which is bound to have issues hence why it is a beta...

Unless of course you have access to the RTM..
