    Strange sounds - security concern

I noticed some strange sounds when I started my laptop last week. My browser window was reduced in size so I also noticed a brief statement pop up for a couple of seconds in the lower left corner of the desktop that read "Transferring files to another computer". The sounds were similar to a computer generated "boinggg" and "swooosh". It occurred a couple of times and has not occurred again. I was out of town and a guest on a secure wireless network. Any ideas?

Re: Strange sounds - security concern

"...a guest on a secure wireless network" is a bit of an odd phrase. But I digress...

Malwarebytes, Process Explorer, Autoruns, now Microsoft Security Essentials, Process Monitor, "Everything" (a free quick mass file search app to find recently modified/created files), look for unusual files and perhaps event log entries etc.

    Could easily be something innocuous.

Thanks for the help Smargh. (to clarify, I was visiting my daughter and was given the WEP key to allow me to use her wireless network)
