Making the desktop fit the screen?

Ive recently changed from Nvidia to ATI and the desktop does not fit my screen properly there is around a 1/3 of an inch space above and below, and only 1280x720 and 1920x1080 resolutions stay at that if i change it to anything else the desktop fits the screen even less, with nvidia there was a 'Resize HDTV desktop' option so it fits perfectly on the screen just wondering if the Catylist Centre has anything the same or any programs i could download to make it fit properly and then also be able to use 1280x800 for gaming.

    just a mention i ran 3DMark03 just wondering if 24314 3DMarks was good for a 4850?

Think it might be the scaling, check in the ATI CCC.

Is there not an auto calibration option on the monitor itself? It often has a button to itself.
