    Dell Laptop Hard Drive

    Hi guys.

I am trying to back up some data off my laptop hard drive after a BSOD (I want to re-format).

But I have removed the drive and it appears to have non-standard connections. How would I plug this into a 3.5" IDE adapter? There are no pins!!

...never seen this before...the drive is incredibly small and just has a ribbon.

    Martin

hard to tell from your pics - is it a 1.8" drive? Is there a manufacturers part number on the drive?

    Re: Dell Laptop Hard Drive

I'd say you're right - I've seen the same arrangement in a Latitude D420; it's a ZIF connector - there are adapters out there, I'll see if I can find one listed for you.
    edit: http://www.sourcingmap.com/inch-zif-...l?currency=GBP looks about right?

Yes, it is indeed a Latitude D420 too. I didn't think ZIF was on cables too...but I know what I need to do now. I'll get hold of one of those adapters.

Thanks - your help is much appreciated
