are there monitors to play games on

Hello to one and all, my first post here, so thanks in advance to any replies.
I dont want a new tv,
Need to connect up xbox 360, ps2 and wii, to a monitor, is there one that can do this without using a vga box, or transformer of sort. I want to use the original cables for the consoles.

I was thinking is it possible to get a monitor with composite or component connections like a tv, not sure which one I need for the three consoles. I am also not sure about the difference between composite or component connections.
Ive seen a few monitors like this like LG W2363V which boasts of components, cant give the url but its on the cite techradar, this seems like it could work, but cant seem to find it to buy anywhere.

    I am in the UK

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

You will need a Dell U2410 at least for that task. Very few monitors have the capability for that sort of functionality.

Seriously though, HDMI inputs, composite in. And it looks kick arse. I'd also connect it up to your computer if I were you.

Re: are there monitors to play games on

Thanks Core Guru for your quick reply,
the one you recommend looks beautiful, but I was hoping to spend around £200.
For what I want to do, what is the connection I need, component or composite, I can connect the xbox 360 with HDMI, so I am only looking to connect up the wii and the ps2

I was gonna get a vga box, and already got a 20" monitor with HDMI DVI and vga, but thought surely if a bought another monitor just for gaming for around £200 I could get a monitor with the capabilities I needed. I am starting to worry I am a little clueless

    Cheers for your reply

That monitor has component, but not composite. I recommend the Dell because it has composite.

PS2 requires composite. As does the Wii as I understand it.

I'm sorry I get them confused. Composite is the one that U2410 has that is needed.

Re: are there monitors to play games on

No problem. Here is my suggestion for a setup:

    PC - DVI
    Xbox 360 - HDMI
    PS2 - Composite
    Wii - Component with this

That way you can have everything plugged in.
