    HDMI Sound Distortion

Just recently ran into a problem where the sound from my media center has become distorted..
It was perfectly fine running from HDMI to TV and from TV to amp but I set up a different amp for a little while and used optical sound then after going back to HDMI audio it's been distorted.

I did mess about with the settings a bit and the sound came back without the distortion but after a few days it just went back to being distorted (without me changing anything).

    Motherboard - GA-E7AUM-DS2H

Tried changing everything, uninstalling, reinstalling audio drivers but all to no avail.
    It's got me stumped.

Edit - It's only the bass that's distorting, running my mp3 player through to the amp sounds perfectly fine and music direct from the TV to the amp sounds fine.

    Re: HDMI Sound Distortion

    Well that was fun,
After a week of trying to get this solved, uninstalling and installing all manner of drivers..
The cause was the mp3 player, my amp didn't like it being connected while playing audio on a different channel.
Unplugged and it's back to normal

    Re: HDMI Sound Distortion

Sounds about right, we always tend to over think things and go for the hard option, for some reason we never ever think it could be something so simple.

    Re: HDMI Sound Distortion

Wouldn't have thought it would of caused distortion though, it was on a seperate channel and turned off.
Oh well, was doing my nut though.. glad to get it sorted at long last.
