Figuring out what drivers i'm downloading

Been given the task of upgrading a friend Vista laptop he brought last week to windows 7.

Now i went to the companies website to download the drivers and it doesn't say if they are 64bit or 32bit.

Now this becomes a problem as i was going to do a clean install but without knowing what driver versions i have i don't know what version OS to use.

I've also suddenly though of the deal that new PC's get of a free upgrade to windows 7.
Has anyone done this as it say the disk they provide will have the drivers on and if i'm going to do it that way am i best to do a custom install and let windows install the correct drivers.

Re: Figuring out what drivers i'm downloading

If the lapy has 4GB of memory or more go 64bit otherwise probably best to stick with 32bit. Some vendors have a single driver installable for both, creative are a good example, however W7 is very good at finding the correct drivers. I would provide more info on what the laptop spec is and any particular drivers you are referring to
