Partitioning Query - Expanding C: DRIVE
My C drive is nearly full.
I have an extended partition which has 2 logical drives D:27gb and F:18gb(unused fat32).
Is it a simple affair to delete F: partition or resize it making the freed space unallocated, using that space freed up to expand the C drive?
What is best approach?
Re: Partitioning Query - Expanding C: DRIVE
If you're using Vista or 7 then it's dead easy, you just delete F: and extend C: in disk management or if you're using another OS you can use something like Partition Magic to do the work. As always when working with partitions though it's always a good idea to back up! Let me know if you need walking through what to do.

It's a windows XP machine. Drive down to 50mb. What is the easiest way to backup? I've already moved my files over to D drive.
What other tools if not Partition Magic. Is Gparted ok?
Re: Partitioning Query - Expanding C: DRIVE
gparted is great, bootable cd. never had problems with it*
* backup if important :)
Re: Partitioning Query - Expanding C: DRIVE
i'll second Gparted its my first choise to expand a partiton
Re: Partitioning Query - Expanding C: DRIVE
Sorry I meant to say Parted Magic, not Partition Magic. Parted magic is basically just gparted on a bootable CD along with a few other tools. You can backup whatever you want just remember messing with partitions can corrupt everything on your HDD, it's not very likely but it can happen. You can either just make a copy of important files such as documents/emails/etc but it's not great if you forget to backup something but don't realise until it's too late. Ideally you should create an image of your HDD using something like this if you have the space on another HDD http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-express/
