    DVD Stuttering

    Hi guys,

I just hooked up a 5.1 system to my PC for the first time (Logitech Z-530).

It sounds great on MP3s and on video files that are on my PC. However when I watch DVDs now, they stutter. Something which never happened when just using my old 2.0 speaker setup.

I've tried different software such as VLC, Media Player, PowerDVD but no joy.

I'm using onboard Realtek sound, not fantastic I know but it's capable of 7.1 and there's no reason why 5.1 should be a problem. The 5.1 demo on the REaltek sftware plays fine and everythign pans round to all the speaks as it should.

    Any ideas guys?

    Thanks!

    Sean

What's your CPU load like when playing back 5.1?

    Re: DVD Stuttering

CPU usage fluctuates between 13-18% when playign in 5.1.

However, just tried with my old 2.0 and it seems that the problem is still there.

Hmmm it was fine yesterday when watching DVDs on 2.0. Seems coincidental that the day I plug in 5.1 this begins to happen

    Re: DVD Stuttering

This is now resolved - for some reason my drive had changed to PIO - performed a regedit to wipe the setting and rebooted - all ok and running DMA now.

Apparently this can happen following viewing of a scratched disc - it just so happens that the last DVD I watched was badly scratched and I had to give up watching in the end! Curse you Blockbuster!

    5.1 working fine now!
