    IcyBox NAS4220 - lost data?

    I bought one from Scan, with a pair of Samsung 1.5TB disks, shortly before the problems with it became obvious...

    I see this is a a pre-existing design problem.

    however it worked fine for a while, but it now beleives there is only one disk installed and that it needs formatting;

    it's running a Linux, which I configured as JBOD - so
    • will the disks be ext2?
    • do they use any form of encyption?
    • can I mount them singly to try and retrieve data?

    I'd be grateful for some constructive suggestions.

    Re: IcyBox NAS4220 - lost data?

    • disks are ext2 (or 3) - ext2FSD allows them to be read under W7 (also good for PCH)
    • yes, they can use encryption but fortunately I didn't
    • I did mount them singly and get the data off

    Scan RMA's the item and both the NS4220 and one of the samsung disks were found faulty

    Scan also appear to have stopped doing the NAS4220 - given the levl of grumbles - can't blame them...
