Phoneline has disappeared..?

Hello everyone,
today I came home to find that my internet wasn't working. I started by restarting the router and then noticed that the adsl and internet lights weren't turning on. I did some more investigating and found that the landline phone wasn't working either. I also had a go on the internet with my iPod but that wasn't happening either.

My only lead so far is a note which I found with the post. It is from BT Openreach and it is one of those 'sorry you were out' notes. Apparently they are doing a job and the note reads:

'Very old cable from outside house to by front door needs replacing. Form needs to be signed to complete.'

So am I now internetless until they can come and finish the job?

I had the same issue when I was at home once, I came home from work to find my line was totally dead ages on the phone to a call center and all they could say was they could not detect a line. After a few days I eventually found out that they had installed a line in my next door neighbours house and stole my line to do this becuase apparently the box was full. I would of been even more angry if they had the nerve to try and charge me to re-connect lol....

Well, you will need to contact them but in the meantime have a look outside and see if the new cable has been run and left coiled up outside (or unterminated) (as no access could be gained) . If you have an 'overhead' connection that they may have been shifting a pole or 'your line had developed a fault' and the policy would be to take the new wire straight inside the house to the 'master socket'

Well we rang them up and they said they'd send someone over on monday so until thn it's 3G internet on the phone...

Aye nothing else for it I guess. Bairn had trouble with his internet a few weeks ago . He was getting sync at about 7.5 but very poor throughput. Took about 3 weeks to get sorted out.
