Video files is sound corrupt?!
I have a couple of video files... when i play them via VLC the sound gives a couple of crackles and the odd half second cut out.
When i load them into Sony Vegas there is no sound, and there is no peaks in the audio timeline... have i a broken codec or something?
*just a bump.. need help *

Re: Video files is sound corrupt?!
I doubt it's the codec (the software used to actually decode the stream). more likely the file is corrupt.
You could try using VirtualDub to extract the audio. Also try playing it through MPC-HC.

+1 for mpc, in my experience mpc will play everything - can you test them on another machine (laptop)?
or via some hw output (digital or such) to avoid pc decoding?

Do they have DD / AC3 audio tracks?| If so there is a bug in VLCs SPDIF output on some soundcards,
try switching to anologue mode if you can, there is a fix for it but I can't remember how.
