    Memory Problems

    Hi all,

I'm having a problem finding solving a problem with my friends laptop, it's becoming a bit unreliable and looking at the logs suggest to me that it might be a problem with the memory.

I've heard there may be problems with some boards and running 4GB ram so ran memtest86 from a bootable usb stick and it ran through several iterations without any problem. I then tried running Vista's (32bit version, yes I know, it will only show 3GB but the 4GB Corsair kit was a bargain) memory diagnostic tool and it says there is a problem and I should contact the manufacturer.

Is there any other memory diagnostic tools that you would recommend that I try?

you think it could be a 4GB Bios issue? (I could dig out a spare 1GB stick and swap it in)

    Any help would be great

    Re: Memory Problems

So it turns out it was a BIOS issue, but it did mean that I got to swap my 3gb for his 4gb, he gets a reliable machine, I get more memory, everyone happy!
