Moving iTunes apps folder to different hard drive

Currently I have iTunes installed on my SSD so that it can take advantage of its speediness but I quite want to move my ever inflating apps folder from the default location on the C drive to my vastly more capacious E drive. Doing this with the Music folder is simple enough as there is a section about it in the Preferences box but is it possible to do the same with the apps folder?

Before it is suggested, I've pruned the Apps folder as much as I dare and it is still of an inadequate size and usefulness for my liking to be on my SSD.

    Thanks,
    Michael

If you're running Windows 7 you could create a symlink? Moving the folder to your hard disk but fooling windows into thinking its still on the SSD drive.
