    Fan goes click

I bought 2 Sharkoon 1200rpm 140mm fans from Scan for my CM690 II. They are horizontal in the roof and worked great. However, recently, one of them has started making an annoying click. It doesn't happen all the time, just an intermittent "click".

I'm kinda weird in that I don't like odd clicks and vibrations, I can only deal with smooth swooshing noises of fans and therefore it bugs the hell out of me. Fans are OK to run horizontally in the roof right?

Should I just return it to Scan?

    Re: Fan goes click

Wow, so this is what Sharkoons do? I heard that some fans don't run well horizontal given their bearing type. Is this true?

Is it worth trying to get a new fan off Scan? Will they ask me to send the old one in? What 140mm fans should I look at replace it?

make sure it clicks every way possible as they will charge you more than the fans worth if they cant find a fault !

Yea, I think i'll ask if they'll just replace it without me having to send it back. I bought £650 worth of parts and i'm complaining about 1 fan!

But, if not, i'll just get some new ones. Any advice on 140mm fans that run well horizontally?

    6 Years surely?

Noctua have slapped a 6 year warranty on everything

    I swear by them personally.

Sure they're expensive but it's damn well worth it.

I've slowly moved over to Noctua, adding another when a cheapo fan fails or when i have the spare cash to do so

To the point where i now have 9 or 10 of them floating around the house.

Brilliant quality, decent cooling, and quiet operation

If you're willing to drop a bomb on a GFX card, why not splash out the little extra on fans?

I would, but I simply don't have the cash! The main reason being I dropped a bomb on my 5850 and i7!

i never checked, i knew it was at least 5 but wasnt sure

if you used the rubber mounts they come with they wouldnt keep floating off

i grabbed a pair of 80mm arctic cooling PWM's and they seem to have FDB's if the OP is after something that costs less. (it was for my HTPc and noctua dont to PWM b4 you gasp in amazement that i brought other than noctua lol)

I use noctuas as well, but if they are too expensive for you, then yate loons, come a good 2nd (some say 1st).

I've linked to the 140mm page, the yl's are the top entry, http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...me.php?cat=892
