    Computer not booting up.

I have an Abit IP35 PRO, with an Intel Q6600 CPU which I've being using for two years without any problems until, this week.

Now when i turn on the computer, it starts up for less than a second and shuts down, it starts up again after a few seconds shuts down again. I've cleared the CMOS memory, changed the power supply and the computer still won't boot up. The POST code LED display on the reads 9.9. Is there any solution to this problem?

On my System Build Form, there's a Build number, a QLQ number and an Invoice number. I've listed the build number as the order number; if it's the wrong number, where can i find the the order number?

I'm considering replacing the motherboard with a Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5 fitted with an, Intel Core i7 960 CPU plus 2 Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC3 10666. Is this feasible?

Is there a diagnostics facility in bios. Is ram / HDD ok?

    Re: Computer not booting up.

It doesn't get as far as the bios before shutting down. It shuts down in less than a second. I've had failed memory cards and hard drives in the past but, they've never caused the computer to shut down.

I suspect it's either the motherboard or the CPU, more likely the motherboard.

    Re: Computer not booting up.

Exactly the same problem I had. Fixed it temporarily by going from S775 to i5 750, then the same thing happened again. Sent off the mobo for rma and no fault was found, so I'm waiting to get it back to see if I still get the problem :/

I look forward to hearing what's the root of your problem - I'm still stumped!

do any of the fans FAIL to spin when they should do?

ie do any of the cpu/ case fans have a fail safe cable and are they stopping it POSTing because one is dead?
