so your saying its the display card then?
For what it's worth I installed a 4850 recently after jumping from a lowly 7800GT.
I got nothing but the stop error all the time from the ATi drivers (check your windows event viewer messages) and kept getting really jerky performance especially when I was playing games - not even at a high resolution - 1280 x 1024.
I ended up having to send my card for RMA and when it came back it worked flawlessly since.
lol i bought the card of a forum member here.....but ive installed my psu into his pc, at the moment there has been no blue screen, he is playing left 4 dead 2 at the moment to push it but my god....
the gpu is damn hot! its hot to the touch, is this normal?? is there a way i can measure the temp on it?
I think you'll find thats what the 4850/4870's are like.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
ok thanks for that, think i may have found the problem mind, got a feeling his corsair tx psu is duff, my zalman is running his pc and so far for the past 3 hours its been running with no problems!
so can anyone recommend a psu for £40 or less thats decent enough to run...
2ghz p4 dual core
2gb ram
radeon hd 3850
250gb hdd
so it doesnt need to be anything special just reliable
You can check temps in CCC under ATI Overdrive. If you're sure it's the PSU then try RMAing it first, if the warranty is up or whatever then these two PSUs should be fine: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/400w-...ed-cooling-fan http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/400W-...-year-warranty
Have you tried reinstalling drivers yet?
It does sound like it to me, try booting in safe mode.
