    HDD Issue

Was messing around with my 1TB Data HDD last night and think i may have damaged the disc.

I was moving around partitions so I had a 200GB Unallocated which involved it going into the bootmanager and moving the files for partitioning.

After completing i'm unable to do anything to the HDD with Disk management software Diskmanagement, Easus Partition, Paragon Partition are the ones that i've tried.

    They just lock up.

I have had a quick scan over it with file recovery software to make sure everything's there and as far as it reads there's nothing wrong with it, finds everything and reports it as undeleted.

I just can't get to it!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Re: HDD Issue

You are unlikely to have damaged the disk - but it is possible that you have damaged the partition table(s) If you can access all the data on the disk, back it all up now, and then repartition the disk from scratch using the standard partition management tools.

You might find gparted a useful tool - you can download it and burn it to a CD - and then boot off it - but don't do any more messing with the partitions until you have backed up all your data.

Hey, sounds like the partition table is just damaged or deleted, give TestDisk a shot.

Heres a kind of how-to for the software (a bit waffley i must say) and see if that doesnt fix things

TestDisk is handy, Windows recovery console has some tools to sort this too.
