    how to slow down voltage drop on a circuit.

    im troubleshooting a problem with my pump controller, basically when it kicks in the software side of the controller card there is a small voltage drop when it takes over from the BIOS on the card, as soon as it kicks in the software the voltage drop is enough to trigger a pump failed alarm, even though this is a split second i would like to see the end of it. could i fit a capacitor over the + & - to slow down the drop ?

    and if i did that would it cause any issues when it reduces the 12v down from 12 to 8 (and various voltages between)

    I think a cap would be good enough to sort that, I guess the lowest value you can get away with
    would be best so it reacts to voltage changes faster. If you want to work it out I think all you
    need is Q=I.T and Q=C.V

    Charge = Current x Time
    Charge = Capacitance x Voltage

    I think?

    So theoretically you can work out the type of capacitor you need. Don't know much more than that.

    Its probably easier to just get a few cap at the right voltage and see if it works just by sticking
    on by hand. My guess would be that a 10uF cap would be easily enough, just rip them off some
    old mobo. Just make sure you put the electrolytic ones the right way around.
