Win2008 server can't delete mcafee registry values

    Hi,
I temporarily installed McAFee Entreprise 8.5i (Vista Ready) on Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition, did a full system scan and then un-installed it using the programs and features un-installer.

However, when I then searched for “mcaffe” in the registry (“regedit” in “run”) I noticed the following 4 values which I can not delete. When I press “del” this message comes up.

I also tried this in safe mode, I restarted the server & even re-installed mcafee, un-installed it and then restarted again.
But these values are still there and I can not delete them.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Does Server 2008 have regedt32? You can check and change permissions using it and you will have much more chance of removing the values using that.

I login into the server as an Administrator.

    ccleaner did nothing.

I checked in registry, in "edit", "permissions", but when I tried to add the administrator or give full control to everyone on that folder, it replied with permission denied!

I run “regedt32” but it’s the same as regular regedit and the problem persists.

Mcafee did not have a separate removal tool, I un-installed it using the windows removal.

Try clicking on the Advanced button on the Permissions dialog, then go to the Owner tab and take ownership of the key.

You may want to read this McAfee KB: KB50602

Try to run regedit with elevated privileges, i.e., start as administrator even though you are logged in with an account with admin rights.
