    Replacement screen or lamp?

    Hello again everybody!

Well, it's been a little while between posts.

Last time I was having issues with my aging laptop and in particular with the screen not lighting.

I have subsequently purchased another laptop, a Toshiba Satellite Pro with double overhead foxtails and twin chromed flossymodes, blah, blah, blah...!

It is running well....so far :-).

This has allowed me to engage in some spannering on the old laptop.

The LCD screen on the old laptop is a 4:3 aspect 15" device carrying generic model number B150PN01 V.1

The video signal connector is a 30 pin type and the backlight connector is a 2 pin type...so no surprises there.

I can obtain a new one for about AUD$150.

    I have only one concern....

The 2 pin connector from the lcd backlight connects to a small pcb attached to a static foil on the inside of the outer clam shell for the lid (got it?).

I know that my screen displays OK because when I shine a bright light source at the screen I can make out the rendering.

What are the odds of the backlight being faulty as against the small pcb being faulty, does anyone think or know?

The small pcb shows no sign of stress, overheating or failure.

    Looking forward to replies.

    Kind regards to all,

    Andrew

I've done a few and it's always been the inverter(small pcb) never had a backlight gone.

what filbert says, and if you buy from a site that does both you can DSR the board andget the lamp, not that i have ever changed a lamp apart from smashed ones.

    Thank you gentlemen.

It would seem to be a cheaper option as well (hopefully!).

    Kind regards,

    Andrew

As the others have said. In my case I replaced four capacitors on the board (not electrlytic, but one had a small bulge) and that fixed it.
