    Talking PhysX and ATI

    Hi All

Been looking about and some people have been usein nvidia 9800 for physX and Ati 48 or 57 cards for main.

If i was to get a PhysX card not a geforce card just a BFG PhysX card can i use this with my ATI 4870 for dedicated phyzX support.

    Thanks

    Cliff

    You forgot the *

*= not officially. You have to use certain driver versions and tweaks to get around nVidia's deliberate blocking of ATI products.

Wow, I missed that one! That's pretty crappy from nVidia!

    Re: PhysX and ATI

Basically they stopped supporting the physx PPU at some point, you just need the old drivers that support it, works fine though.

I have an asus physics card, though I did not have time to play around with it yet. I just installed the card and it doesn't work out of the box. If I have time today to test it I'll get back to you with my results.

Yes. Ageia are owned by nVidia, nVidia make the drivers for PCI PhysX cards now, thus you need nVidia drivers. Which nVidia won't allow to work with ATI cards without a hack, regardless of whether it's a physX card or a graphics card.
