    Dumb Question

Can someone tell me how to remove the protective cap from the cpu socket? Without damaging anything underneath??

Gently pull out the plastic cap ?It should dislodge in the middle area both top and bottom.
Also, the contacts are a good distance away from the cap.

    Re: Dumb Question

What socket is it? AM2? s775/1156/1386? I think they'd be the same in terms of getting the cap out, but if it's different it helps to know.

Have you unclipped the CPU lock with the lever on the side? The cap just lifts straight out once you unclip the CPU holder.

    Re: Dumb Question

Unlock the CPU leaver, pop the cap off. It's simple, you wont damage it dont worry.
