    Shimmering screen

Since installing my GTX 460, I've been getting an odd display problem, which I can best describe as "shimmering". It is usually quite sporadic and I think it gets worse as I start to overclock. Some googling led me down the path of increasing my monitor's refresh rate, which is currently at 60Hz. Only problem is, 60Hz is the only option available in both the Windows 7 display properties window and the nVidia control panel. If it matters my monitor is hooked up via VGA. The problem doesn't seem to be noticeable whilst playing games but it is quite apparent when browsing the internet etc.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Michael

Could be one of a few things...

Could be the timing on the graphics card being upset. Try changing down resolution.
Could be a loose connection, or some radio interference getting into the cable. Try moving it around - are there any sources of radio nearby (eg is it next to a wifi router, or a microwave oven, or a phone or anything like that?) Or a big transformer or something?

If it's a CRT, could be some magnetic field disturbing the tube.
Try using DVI or HDMI if you can.
    Try a different monitor cable

    Re: Shimmering screen

I've since acquired a DVI capable monitor and the problem has vanished, so I can only assume that it was something to do with the VGA-ness of the old monitor.
