Help please! No post at all!

Had my pc running through the night downloading a few bits and bobs, turned it off this morning when i had finished. When i went to start it back up later during the day it no longer posts, no beep, nothing at all.

All the fans in the case are working as they should, but the monitor stays in standby and the mouse and keyboard do not light up. I took out the memory sticks and it posts correctly to show that error, did the same with the graphics card and it also posts the error for no vga. I thought it may be the HD as the light on that shows no activity so went and bought a new one from pc world, still no good. Have reseated the cpu and replaced the cmos battery, still no good. Has anyone experienced this before? I`m assuming it must be either cpu or motherboard?

Any help would be appreciated, or i`ll just be replacing bits until it works again!

if the hard drive fails, then the pc should still turn on.

considering that it gives you beep codes if you remove the gpu and mem then the MB and CPU are propably fine. I would try an other vga and memory...yeah, firstly test with an other graphics card...and then the memory..

it would be nice to have your specs like the brand and model number of psu, mem, mb, etc.

    off topic:
it's not a smart thing to buy anything from PC world ;-)

I just bought the hd from there to test, will take it back tomorrow for a refund. Luckily i have some spare ram so i`ll try that, and a mate has a crummy 8400GS so will get hold of him and see if it works ok. I hate computers when they dont play nice. Specs are in my profile to the left there.

Looks like its my gfx card! Just nipped back to pc world to get a refund on the hd and picked up a new card. Shoved it in and the pc booted up fine. Damn it.

To add to my bad weekend I went to play a film on my blu ray and that is playing up, no sound from it. I`m waiting for the 3rd thing to go wrong.
